Key Industries supply the legendary Surex Pool Paint designed for swimming pools. The range can be seen in pools all round the country and our classic colour range compliments any pool size or shape.
Applications: A durable 'face lift' to discoloured rendered concrete pool surfaces, walls and pool surrounds. This paint can also be used on fibre-glass lined, all ferrous metal and wooden pool surfaces – seek advice before applying. WARNING - Not to be used in fish ponds. (toxic to fish).
Directions for use:
For first time painted surfaces Mix the contents by thoroughly stirring before application, (for at least 5 minutes). All surfaces must be free of grease, polish, rust, scale, algae and loose flakes etc. Clean down the pool surface with a chlorine solution to eliminate any possible bacterial growth that may be present in the minute surface pores. Do not apply to a substrate that is not fully waterproof. Do not paint between rain showers. Do not apply to wet surfaces. 'Thin' down the first coating with recommended thinners (approx'. 10- 15%). Apply by brush or roller. Leave for 16 - 24hrs before administering further coats, (or until touch dry) It is common practice to apply two coats to pool walls and three coats to the pool base, particularly in shallow areas. Important - Do not paint in excessively hot or cold weather conditions - this could cause blistering. Leave the finished painted surface some 14 - 21 days (depending on weather conditions) before filling with water - if in doubt seek advice. This allows the solvent in the paint to dissipate into the atmosphere and will prevent possible 'blistering'. Always use a respirator and goggles when painting.
For Re- Painting Applications: Mix the contents by thoroughly stirring before application, (for at least 5 minutes). Only apply to surfaces previously painted with Chlorinated Rubber Paint. Do not apply to surfaces previously painted with emulsion or epoxy type paints- 'they are not compatible'. Only paint onto a good sound substrate - if in doubt seek advice. 'Thin' down the first coating with 10-15% of recommended thinners.
Follow the instructions as detailed above.
Surfaces coated with Chlorinated Rubber Paints should have a life expectancy of some 3-7 years before repainting. The application of slow dissolving Chlorine donors cast directly into pool water surfaces can both discolour and degrade the appearance painted surfaces.
